Why and How to Use Efax

As a business person, you will most likely need to use a fax machine.  If you do, you've probably experienced some of these problems:

  • The fax machine jammed in the middle of the transmission of an important contract.
  • Your fax machine ran out of paper when you were away from the office, while you were expecting an important document.
  • Your fax machine ran out of ink in the middle of receiving a fax
  • Your fax machine "swallowed" two or three pages at a time when transmitting a document, causing the person on the receiving end to get an incomplete document.

That is why more small businesses every day are turning to eFax , an online fax service that eliminates the need for a fax machine, an extra fax line and all the associated expenses (paper, ink cartridges etc.) that come with it.

How eFax Works

How to Receive Faxes

With eFax you get a real fax number that's tied to your email. You can then send and receive faxes as email attachments. To the person faxing you, it looks and acts like any other fax number. When someone faxes to your number, the fax is converted to a file that is emailed to you as an attachment.

When you sign up to some eFax options, like eFax Plus or eFax Pro , you'll choose a local or toll-free fax number. When someone faxes you, you receive the fax in your email inbox as a file attachment. Just double click the file to read it. You'll be able to check your faxes anywhere you can check your email. You also have the option to route all your incoming faxes to up to 5 different email addresses — so there's no need for more copying, distributing, or forwarding of paper faxes.

How to Send Faxes

It's easy to send a fax with eFax. One way is to attach either a file or a scanned hard copy to an email. Then, you will open your email program and in the To: field, type the recipient's fax number like this: 13235556789@efaxsend.com. Click send and it arrives as a paper fax in their fax machine!

Saving Faxes

You can save a fax just like you would any email attachment.  If you are traveling or using a remote computer, you can also access your faxes online by logging into your account.

Receiving Voice Mails by Email

With eFax's high end option: eFax Pro , someone can call you and leave a voice message, which is then converted to a file and emailed to you as an attachment. You can listen to it through your computer with popular music programs such as Windows Media® Player, iTunes®, and RealPlayer®, or our own eFax Messenger software.

If You Alredy Have a Fax Number

If you already have a fax number and want to keep it, you can contact your phone company and call-forward the number to your new eFax number. Or you start giving out your eFax number and stop paying the high cost of an extra fax line.

We find eFax to be an extremely valuable and cost effective service and definitely worth a try .
